Tips For Teaching Weather Patterns In Elementary

Weather is something that eventually feels like second nature. But how do you introduce it to kids in a way that is fun and engaging? Science is one of my favorite subjects to teach to students because it encourages curiosity and the desire to learn.

If you are looking for some weather patterns activities for kindergarten or 1st grade, you’re in the right place! I’m going to be sharing my favorite weather lesson plans for early elementary students.

What is a fun way to teach weather?

The best way to get students excited to learn about this fascinating subject is to let them get some hands-on fun! There are tons of simple experiments you can do. You can make a water cycle with a baggie, or do some solar cooking outside (if it’s hot out). You can sing some weather songs, write in a weather journal, and so much more.

What are good weather activities?

Aside from the ones mentioned above, my favorite weather activity for kids has to be the Cloud Science Experiment! All you need is a jar, a sponge, blue food coloring, water, and an old squirt bottle. This simple activity is a great way to show students how clouds are formed! For more information on how to do it, check out the resource below!
